Foreign Policy and International Relations

Developments in China’s foreign policy have far-reaching implications for Sweden, Europe and the wider world. Key areas include China’s deepening cooperation with Russia, its policy towards Taiwan, and its evolving relations with the EU, the US, NATO and neighbouring countries.

At the Swedish National China Centre, we contribute to a long-term and in-depth understanding of China’s foreign policy interests, objectives and strategies across a range of areas. Together with our partners, we operate the China–Russia Dashboard, a data-driven platform that analyses the relationship between China and Russia and tracks its development over time.

We also collaborate with international expert and research networks, including the European China Knowledge Network (E-CKN) and the European Think-tank Network on China (ETNC), to strengthen knowledge and understanding of China’s foreign policy priorities and their implications for Sweden and Europe.
