Research with Restrictions
Welcome to the presentation of the research project “Research with Restrictions”, which examines political challenges in Swedish-Chinese research relations.
In collaboration with Mälardalen University and on behalf of the Swedish Psychological Defense Agency (MPF), NKK is conducting a study on how China’s authoritarian political system affects research relations between Sweden and China. A particular focus is on investigating whether and how Sweden-based researchers are subjected to repression.
According to the project’s findings, Swedish-based scholars collaborating with China-based researchers are generally very satisfied with these research relations. However, the study also shows that the Chinese government exerts authoritarian influence on Sweden-based researchers, particularly China experts.
